Scope of the Project

This £4m project involved the creation of a new MRI Scanning Suite and Outpatients Department.  The full scope of works included the installation of three MRI scanners, new changing rooms, podiatry, ultrasound, a clinical assessment area, paediatric waiting area, a general waiting area, reception and administration / welfare facilities.

Challenges

Apollo took over the building following a shell and core construction project, that had originally intended the building to be used for retail.  Due to the change in use, extensive changes were made to the original building including new drainage, new plant rooms, mechanical and electrical services.

Our Approach

To accommodate the weight of the new equipment, the original concrete slab was removed, and new slabs cut into the existing.    To ensure the waterproofing and integrity of the new slab a Koster Vape Primer and Koster SL Premium system was applied to the entire slab, on top of the new screed.   This approach also ensured that the original warranty for the waterproofing was maintained.
