Scope of the Project
The project involved the strip-out and minor remodelling to the basement area, to accommodate the installation of the new Somatom X.cite CT scanner. Minor demolition and the removal of internal walls was completed, to reconfigure the existing area to create the new scanning room, control room, reception, waiting area and changing facilities. The project involved the removal of all existing mechanical and electrical services, and installation of new.
Challenges
Devonshire Place is a Grade II Listed Building. This listed status placed a number of restrictions on the building works that were able to take place, particularly to facilitate the new mechanical and electrical services. The Scanning Suite is located in the basement of the listed building, creating further logistical challenges of how to move the scanner through the building and into the basement.
Our Approach
Through extensive surveys, Apollo were able to locate existing service ducts within the building and use these ducts for the new M&E services, minimising intrusive works to the listed building fabric to run the new services.
The Apollo team co-ordinated a number of third party stakeholders including the client, local residents, the local authority and the Conservation Officer to facilitate a road closure and crane lift of the scanner, through the roof and into position.
