Scope of the Project
The Scope of Works included the removal of the existing MRI scanner, and strip-out of the existing area. A new MRI Scanner was installed, requiring a new RF Cage. All areas were refurbished including the control room, waiting area and entrance. Works to create the new entrance to the scanning suite were carried out, out-of-hours to minimise disruption to patients and staff
Challenges
The scanning suite was located on the first floor of the occupied medical facility. The entrance to the MRI suite was shared with an adjacent MRI Scanner which remained in use throughout the construction period.
Our Approach
A structural scaffold was designed and erected over the main entrance to the hospital to enable the scanner to be craned on to the scaffold and moved by hand into position. An existing window and significant brickwork was required to be removed to accommodate the size of the new scanner.
